• Group Art Therapy Session

  $35 will provide 10 children with art supplies for a Group Art Therapy session.

• One In-Home Therapy Visit

  $80 will provide one child living in poverty with one in-home therapy visit.

• Healing Plan for One Child

  $200 provides a psychiatric evaluation and healing plan for one child.

• Therapy for Two Children

  $325 will provide two children with an hour of individual psychotherapy.

Our mission at The Children’s Center is to help children and families shape their own futures. We offer meaningful solutions that address the mental, physical and behavioral health challenges faced by over 100,000 children in the Greater Detroit area. EVERY CHILD DESERVES THE CHANCE TO SUCCEED

Most of the children we serve come to us frightened and traumatized, from homes devastated by physical and emotional violence. The Children’s Center offers more than 20 inter-related programs addressing trauma, behavioral and emotional challenges. Your donation will help support our programs and the children and families we serve. A $125 DONATION WILL PROVIDE A FOSTER PARENT WITH THREE HOURS OF RESPITE.

“When my mom was shot by her boyfriend, we were taken to my grandmother’s house. My grandmother wasn’t baking cookies and throwing birthday parties; she was mean. She would heat up a spoon on the stove until it was cherry red, and then burn me all over my body for no reason… That lasted about a year until my teacher noticed a burn mark on my neck and reported it. I became a ward of the state.

That’s when I met Butch Thornton at The Children’s Center Foster Care Program. He became my mentor, my friend. He told me, it wasn’t my fault The Children’s Center helped me to open up, to heal, to love, to forgive.

I eventually earned my high school diploma and pursued a career in law enforcement to help protect other children. You see, mine is just one story. There are thousands of kids still out there … thinking it’s their fault and desperately wanting to be loved. They need The Children’s Center.”
